HSC Mathematics Advanced

Advanced is the course most Year 11 students find harder than they expected, because the pace assumes the junior algebra is fluent. Classes work through the course content and the school assessment schedule together.

Years 11 and 12. NSW Mathematics Advanced syllabus, 2024.

What the course covers
Functions and graphing
Trigonometric functions and identities
Calculus, differentiation and integration
Exponential and logarithmic functions
Financial mathematics
Statistical analysis and the normal distribution
How the week works
Classes run in small groups at the Epping rooms, with the tutor reading the working as it happens.
Homework each week comes out of what the lesson showed, so it targets the thing that went wrong.
The first class is a free trial. No card, no obligation, and you can stop there.
Fees
Years 11 and 12
$120 per week
Weekly, by year group. No enrolment fee and no lock-in term.

Questions parents ask

Can a student do Advanced and Extension 1 in the same class?
They are separate classes. Most Extension 1 students sit both, and the tutor keeps the two sets of work in step rather than repeating content.
When should a Year 11 student start?
Term 1 of Year 11 is the useful moment, because the Year 11 content is assumed in Year 12 and is rarely retaught. Starting later works, it just means covering ground twice.
What happens in the free trial?
Your child sits a real class with the group they would join. The tutor works through their current school task, watches the working, and tells you afterwards what they saw.
How much does it cost?
Fees are set by year group and are listed on this page. There is no enrolment fee and no lock-in term.
Where are you?
Suite 105-106, 16-18 Cambridge Street, Epping. Most families come from Epping, Cherrybrook and Carlingford.
